Cazadero Communications - February 2016

Cazadero Communications - February 2016

by Natasha Pehrson

Peering out of the windows of my cosy cyber-hut, I see rain! We are in the midst of, according to various media, “an atmospheric river” of rain! Oh boy, we need it, just not all at once. That said, pray for Tinkerbell to keep the power on, especially as I write this!

Gearing up for Valentine’s Day, do treat yourself or a sweetie to some locally produced goodies, including the very tempting assortment at Treats and Toys located near the P.O. in Duncans Mills. Mr. Trombly’s Teas and Table stores, across Hwy#116 also in Duncans Mills has wonderful teas and related gift items, with ‘Table’ featuring household and gourmet specialties. A romantic brunch at Cape Fear, a tasty sandwich and locally raised lamb, beef and smoked salmon at the Duncans Mills General Store will keep you well fed and relaxed. Many of these local businesses are owned and operated by Cazaderans.

The 1st Saturday 15% Discount day at Cazadero Supply will help you with any vehicle, yard or household projects. Raymond’s Bakery will re-open soon and are guaranteed to have holiday specialties.

Put Friday, February 5th on your calendar, to attend the “Two Poets in Winter” event at the Occidental Center for the Arts, 7 p.m. Cazaderan and former Sonoma County Poet Laureate Mike Tuggle will read from his new book, The Motioning In and current Poet Laureate Iris Dunckle from her new work, There’s a Ghost in this Machine of Air. Donation accepted at the door and refreshments available.

The next meeting of the Cazadero Community Club will be on Tuesday, March 1st-7 p.m. at Firehall #1. All are welcome to help plan events which benefit the entire community. I hear tell that the Club will sponsor a Corned Beef Dinner. Stay tuned to this column for details!
