Russian River Sister Grant Applications Open for 2016

Russian River Sister Grant Applications Open for 2016

The Russian River Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are now accepting financial grant applications. The Russian River Sisters organize and assist at many fundraising events throughout the year to raise the funds that go into the Grant Fund, and the monies from this fund are made available in grant form to local charitable groups and organizations that receive little, if any, government or mainstream funding. If your organization is in the Sonoma County area, it may be eligible. The deadline for all applications is Friday, March 11th at Midnight. These grants will be awarded during the observance of the Sisters’ Anniversary celebration on Friday, March 25, 2016. This year we are celebrating our Quinceañera, fifteen years of promulgating universal joy, expiating stigmatic guilt and serving the under-served at the Russian River.

For some reason there are always some who do not hear about this until it’s too late or they wait until the last minute and ask for an extension. We cannot accept any applications after March 11th. We will review the applications shortly thereafter. So please spread the word far and wide to anyone you think might like to apply. Grants are funded without regard to race, gender, age, religious belief or sexual orientation of applicants or their organizations. If you are a member of an organization with a specific financial need or are aware of a need within the community, please contact us.

The Russian River Sisters’ Grant Fund is managed by a committee of Sisters, under the leadership of Grants Chairnun, Sister Nova Nilla. “The grants are awarded to NPOs in a very broad spectrum of the non-profit sector” says Sister Nova, “schools, youth programs, seniors, animal shelters & rescues, health and recovery, and special projects and programs. For instance, last year we awarded funds for life jackets at Sonoma County beaches.” Funding requests are accepted only via the application form on our website. When evaluating an application, the grants committee considers the nature of the request and how relevant it is to the needs of our local community. We do not approve grant requests for salaries, honorariums, personal or travel expenses. We also do not approve requests from organizations outside of our sphere of influence.

The Russian River Sisters were honored to receive the Jefferson Award in 2013. Founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard, the Jefferson Awards is America’s highest honor for public service, a “Nobel Prize for public service”. The Russian River Sisters is a 100% volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Blessed by the generosity of the community in their fundraising efforts, the Sisters are able to make thoughtful, timely and much needed financial grants to worthy groups.

The Sisters Grants Fund is still accepting donations for the 2016 grant cycle. Your donation to the fund, if gifted before the application deadline on March 11th, will be sent back out into the community at this year’s grants give-away at our Quinceañera. If you are so inclined, please visit the Sisters donation webpage to make a donation and be sure to check the GRANTS box to designate the fund’s destination.

Thank you! We love you and there ain’t a damn thing you can do about it! More information about the RRSPI grants program is available on the Sisters’ website: Grants questions may be directed to the Grants Chairnun, Sister Nova Nilla, at
