California Wildfire Relief - $50,000 from American Ag Credit

California Wildfire Relief - $50,000 from American Ag Credit and CoBank

Agricultural lenders American AgCredit and CoBank are joining forces to assist the American Red Cross with its ongoing wildfire relief efforts throughout California. Each organization has committed $25,000 to help the Red Cross provide shelter, food and relief supplies for the thousands of people displaced by the fires. As evacuees begin returning to their homes, the donation will go toward Red Cross assistance, helping individuals and families to plan important next steps and to access the resources they will need to rebuild their lives.

“The fires in California have caused considerable damage throughout the state,” said American AgCredit Chief Marketing Officer Terry Lindley. “Homes and entire livelihoods have been lost to these massive fires. As a California-based lender, American AgCredit is proud to do its part to assist in the recovery.”

“The people of California have faced a great deal of adversity this year,” said Leili Ghazi, president of CoBank’s Western Region. “Unprecedented drought conditions have hit everyone hard and so many have now been impacted by these devastating fires. We hope that our contributions to the Red Cross will help to alleviate a small part of their suffering.”

In addition to its $25,000 donation, American AgCredit has also committed to matching up to $5,000 in donations from its employees, adding $10,000 to the total donation. “Our staff members are part of these communities,” said Lindley. “Many have already made their own financial contributions to this important effort and we are delighted to be able to match those donations dollar-for-dollar.”
