Fire Protection Class Ratings... Why Do You Care?

Typically every 10 years, each fire department is reevaluated by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) and assigned a protection class rating from 1 to 10. This is how your insurance company decides how much you pay in fire insurance as part of your homeowner’s policy. These ratings apply for any property within 5 miles of a fire station and 1,000 feet from a water supply. Recently, a few of the West County fire departments completed this process and improved their ratings, which means you save money... but only if your agent updates your information. Call today and make sure your protection class (PC) rating is right!
