According to a recent survey conducted by The Chronicle of Higher Education, Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) is one of the best colleges to work for in the nation. This year marks the third consecutive year the College has received the distinction and has been named an honor roll institution.

The results, released in The Chronicle’s eighth annual report on The Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of 44,000 employees at 281 colleges and universities nationwide. Out of the 281 applicants, 86 colleges were recognized for workplace quality. Forty-two of those 86 recognized colleges, including SRJC, received honors in multiple categories thereby distinguishing themselves and earning a spot on the Honor Roll.

SRJC was one of two California community colleges to earn this distinction, and one of only four large community colleges nationwide to be named on the Honor Roll. These distinctions put SRJC among elite company.

SRJC Media DepartmentSRJC stood out in seven (out of 11 possible) categories. This year, SRJC won honors in the categories of Collaborative Governance, Compensation and Benefits, Confidence in Senior Leadership, Job Satisfaction, Respect and Appreciation, Supervisor or Department Chair Relationship, and Teaching Environment.

SRJC was also one of only 24 community colleges nationwide to be recognized as a “Great College to Work For.”

President and Superintendent Dr. Frank Chong responded, “We are dedicated to keeping SRJC as the heartbeat of our Sonoma County community. Our talented and committed employees are the core of the JC. We’re glad to see that our employees truly appreciate working here, and we do our best to show them how grateful we are that they chose SRJC to pursue a career in the service of our students and community.”
