Rio Nido Magic - June 2015

Rio Nido Magic - June 2015

by Elena Chronis

The Memorial Day BBQ was a wild success. Thank you to the efforts of the HomeOwners Association and President Douglas Misner for making this event a fun filled family gathering. As always, generations of families come up for these summer holiday picnics to catch up on old times, make new memories and enjoy themselves.

The weather was perfect for the first RN event of the summer with just the right amount of sunshine and a cool breeze. It was great to see throngs of local Rio Nidans at the event as well as people from all over the Bay Area. The aroma of the chickens cooking brings back many memories of summers past. Where can you go for $10.00 and have a delicious meal with entertainment, your neighbors, as well as new and old friends? Exactly, a great value and lots of fun too. Loving the nostalgia of these picnics. See you next time! Speaking of next time, mark your calendars for Sunday, June 14th for the RNHA Pancake Breakfast. 9am-12noon. YUM!

Pee Wee Mini Golf

Pee Wee Mini Golf is now officially open for the summer weekends. The wonderful Pee Wee golf crew was out in full force cleaning and preparing the course for all the kids.

It looks so cheerful and adorable, great work! The turnout of children playing miniature golf was terrific. It’s always such a pleasure to see all the little itty bitty kiddos having a fun time. Thank you to all the hardworking folks involved for bringing smiles to the faces of so many children!

Rio Nido Tennis Court

Wow, the word is out and its spreading fast. The RN tennis court is being used all the time. Not only does it look great thanks to Rec and Park, it also is being utilized as it should be. Seeing many happy faces out there getting their exercise and hitting those tennis balls is fun to watch. So get your game on, grab those rackets and come on down and hit a few balls. The HOA is in the planning stages of sponsoring lessons for kids and teenagers. Please email me with your interest so we can get this process moving along. My email is: Thank you.

Summer has arrived in RN

Throngs of summer revelers have descended upon our little enclave. It’s great to see people from all over the Bay Area enjoying the beauty that is Rio Nido.

With several lovely vacation rentals in RN, word is that people are intent on spending their vacations here. The best part is seeing families here during the summer months. RN has an abundance of things to do. From all the RNHA summer picnics, to miniature golf, tennis, the playground, dog park, horseshoe pit... it’s crazy fun!

Speaking of a myriad of things to do in RN, a big thanks to our “Garden Elves” for making the Community Vegetable Garden so gorgeous. Rock on!

Friends of Rio Nido (FRN)

Our last meeting was held on May 16th. FRN is holding an election to vote in new Board members. The last day for FRN to receive mailed ballots is June 12th. The Election/general meeting will take place on June 13th. The Elections Committee certifies the election results on June 24th. Newly elected Board members will be seated on July 1st. Pet of the Month

Elena Chronis - Rio Nido Magic - Pet of the Month June 2015: T-BoneMy name is T-Bone and I am the canine version of Cinderella. I was found running around on the freeway and taken to the pound in Martinez. It is the scariest place on the planet for strays. I had a microchip so the pound called my first owner, but they didnt come get me, so I just sat in my cage and waited, but sadly no one would take me home. On my last day, my mom’s friend Nadia (my guardian angel) pulled me out of the pound and asked my mom to foster me. My mom didn’t want me because she already had to take care of two dogs, six chickens and two kids, but she grudgingly took me in and the whole family fell in love with me. HA — Foster failures!

Now I live with my new family and run the place here in RN. Wow, a dog run, giant redwood trees, a river and really nice people here. What more can a happy dog like me ask for?!
