The Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation invites entries for
“A Photographic Journey through the Laguna de Santa Rosa”
(A celebration of the twenty-fifth year of the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation)

Juried Exhibition September 4, 2015 through January 4, 2016
Opening reception:  September 26, 2015, 3:00-5:00 p.m. (Presentation of Awards at 4:00 p.m.)

Deadline to enter:  August 3, 2015 – Office open 10am to 6pm Pacific Time

Call for photographic artwork: Color photographs of any of the myriad elements of the Laguna de Santa Rosa, the landscape, its flora, its fauna (images of people excluded); they may serve to educate and/or they may tell a story about the Laguna.  Work may be of any photographic style, from realistic to fanciful.

Non-Refundable Entry Fee:

  • A non-refundable fee of $10 per entry will be charged to fund the awards for Best of Show, Foundation Representative’s Award and Merit Awards.  These awards will be proportioned based on the number of entries up to a maximum of:
    • Best of Show:  $200
    • Foundation Representative: $100
    • Merit Awards: $50 each, up to four

Once these awards are made, any remaining balance from entry fees will go to the Laguna Foundation.


  • All photographs must be in color and original, securely wired for hanging.
  • All work must be for sale.
  • All images must be from the Laguna de Santa Rosa (click on or go to link to see trail maps).

  • Maximum of three entries per artist.
  • Artwork must measure a minimum of 12” X 12” and a maximum of 22” X 28” (outside dimensions, including frame if framed).

Selection:  Work for this exhibit will be selected by juror Brenda Tharp from online entries and hand-delivered work. A professional photographer for more than 30 years, Brenda Tharp’s award-winning images have appeared in national magazines and books, calendars, greeting cards, and posters. She has fine art images in private collections across the United States; and her commercial images are represented by Danita Delimont Stock and Getty Images.  She has authored two books on photography and is a popular keynote speaker.  Brenda is an acclaimed workshop instructor and international tour leader.

All selected work from online entries must be hand-delivered to the Foundation office by 5pm Wednesday, September 2, 2015.

How to Enter:

There are two ways to submit photos: online or in-person.  We highly recommend and prefer online submissions.

  • To submit online, please go to our website and register.  Once you register (it’s easy; payment will be made through PayPal), we will send you details on how and where to email your images.
  • To submit in-person, please visit the Laguna Foundation office to register and to hand-deliver your printed artwork.  Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit card.  The Laguna Foundation Office is located at 900 Sanford Road (at the corner of Occidental Rd.), Santa Rosa, CA 95401, and is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.  On August 3rd, the office will stay open until 6pm.  Please specify that entries are for the Heron Hall photography exhibit, attention Anita Smith.  Bring completed entry form and attach label to back of each entry with artist’s name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and image title, size and price.  (Both forms can be found on page 3.)
  • Artists will be notified of acceptance by email by Thursday, August 6, 2015.
  • Artists whose work is not selected may pick it up on Friday, August 7th between 9am and 5pm at the office, or on Saturday, August 8th during Open House between 10am and 3pm.
  • Artists are welcome to submit an Artist’s Statement about their work for placement in a binder available to visitors.

Liability, Sales, etc. regarding work submitted

  • No substitutes will be accepted for work selected, and no changes may be made to title, price, etc., after delivery of artwork.
  • All reasonable care will be taken with the work, but insurance is the responsibility of the artist.  Neither the Laguna Foundation nor its representatives will assume liability for damage or loss.
  • Unfinished work will not be accepted.
  • Selected work must be on view for the duration of the exhibit.
  • Artists may bring additional items (cards, calendars, books, etc.) featuring their original art to be sold in the gift shop. Items must be clearly labeled with the artist’s name and the item price with sales tax included. For images and additional items, artists will receive 60% of the sales price of work that is sold.

Give the Laguna Foundation an anniversary present!

All entries to this show are eligible to become an official part of the LF Photographic Archives. Please check if you would like to donate the use of your image(s) to the LF Archives and then list donated image titles and sign below.  All donated photographs will be credited to the photographer wherever used.  Use of donated work will be limited to advancement of the non-profit purposes of the Laguna Foundation.  The LF will seek prior specific permission from the artist for use in printed materials for sale.
