Sebastopol's Harmony Farm Supply & Nursery receives Luther Burbank Award

Harmony Farm Supply & Nursery, an iconic Sebastopol institution that promotes cutting-edge, earth friendly farming and gardening practices, is the recipient of Sonoma County Farm Bureau's Luther Burbank Conservation Award, which annually recognizes individuals and businesses that lead the way in conservation and environmental awareness.

Harmony Farm Supply & Nursery, owned and operated by Rick Williams and his wife Leah Taylor, will be honored at Sonoma County Farm Bureau's Love of the Land celebration on July 16 at Richard's Grove and Saralee's Vineyard, 3575 Slusser Road in Windsor. The event is open to anyone who wants to join in paying tribute to Harmony Farm Supply & Nursery and the company's 30 employees. A pioneer in Sonoma County's organic farming movement, Harmony Farm Supply & Nursery has become a revered center of learning that upholds an environmental ethic while helping growers produce food crops the natural way.

Also being honored at Love of the Land are Paul Martin, a Petaluma rancher and agriculture industry leader, who is being inducted into the Farm Bureau Hall of Fame, and the Sangiacomo Family of the Sonoma Valley, named Farm Bureau's Farm Family of the Year.

Love of the Land, honoring the stewards of the land and Sonoma County's agricultural bounty, starts at 5 p.m. with a tasting of Sonoma County wine and food. A dinner featuring an array of Sonoma County grown products is at 7 p.m. The dinner will be followed by the awards presentation and live auction. Individual tickets are $65. General seating tables of eight are $700. Corporate sponsor tables for eight people are $1,250.
