Artspace Projects partners with Santa Rosa to create affordable art studios

Artspace Projects, a national, nonprofit arts developer, and the City of Santa Rosa are working together to create a unique arts facility in Santa Rosa. The goal of the project is to create affordable space designed especially for arts organizations and individual artists and their families.

In order to develop a project that meets the true needs of the artists, it is vitally important that we have participation and receive feedback from a large cross section of the artists in our community. To this end, we would like to invite you, and ask that you invite others to participate in a community meeting, which takes place Wednesday, May 27, 7-8:30pm, in Person Auditorium at Finley Center, 2060 West College Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA.

The purpose of the meeting is to educate attendees about the work of Artspace, successful national project models, and the economic and community impact of the arts. We are also looking to build community support for a project while addressing questions and concerns, and to gather information about the community need and interest in a project. We will start with a short presentation to set the context for discussion.

This community meeting is one of several that will provide us with a range of information. The information will be compiled in a feasibility study that will include such things as artist housing needs, affordability ranges, artist studio-only needs, location preferences, design requirements based on household sizes and arts disciplines, and arts organization space needs. We encourage people to participate regardless of their personal needs or interest in the project.
