Sign Commencement Ceremony

Rio Nido SignSaturday, April 18th was a monumental day for all us Rio Nidans. A sign commencement ceremony took place that will go down in RN history. The old red neon RN sign was restored and re-hung proudly for all of the Community to enjoy. To read about the history of the sign, go here.  It is quite interesting and is a must-read.

Big thanks go to:

For creating the original sign – thanks to Clare and Laura and the rest of the Harris family;

For finding it: Ed Monahan (way back Manager of the Rio Nido Lodge & Faviana;

For storing it: Jim & Vicki/Larry and Elena;

For funding it: Board of Supervisors: James Gore, David Rabbit, Efren Carrillo, Susan Gorin, Shirlee Zane and County- Kevin & Tom.

For managing the project: FRN Sign Committee: Steve, Ingrid, John, Doug, Beverly, Elena, Alexandria, Nick, Vicki, Jayne and the FRN Board (Matt, Marsee, Kim, Jennifer, John and Dave);

For refurbishing and fabricating the post for it: Dick and Chuck;

For being the first starters of the Sign Restoration Project: John and Jennifer;

Brad Metzger and Raena Jones of the Rio Nido Roadhouse were kind enough to provide champagne to all those attending the Sign Commencement Ceremony.

Fun Events at the Rio Nido Roadhouse

The Rio Nido Roadhouse will be starting all their summertime fun this month. May kicks off the summer season with a bang!

Walter’s Water Aerobics will begin in early May. Stay tuned and check with the RNR for dates. The pool officially opens on Memorial Day Weekend. 

Season pool passes and daily passes will be offered. 

Join us at the RNR for the sultry rock sounds of the Wrecking Balls on Saturday, May 2nd. Junk Parlor performs on Sunday, May 3rd with gypsy belly dancers.  And not to forget Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 10th. Served buffet style with all the fixings!

Rio Nido Tennis Court

Come on down...since the tennis court has been repaved we’ve had alot of action...bring those rackets and balls down to the court and get your swing on. (Remember, the court is only used for tennis. BICYCLES and tricycles Prohibited!) Again, a big thanks to the members of the Russian River Recreation and Park District for making this a reality and to the Tennis Court Committee consisting of Doug Misner, Beverly Bird and Elena Chronis for getting the process underway.

RNH Chicken BBQ

Come on down with friends and family and join us for the Homeowners Memorial Day Chicken BBQ. When: Sunday, May 24th. Libations begin at 4pm, dinner starts at 5pm. Dancing and talent show too.  See you there!
