FREE Community event to celebrate the legacy of a man of peace and justice.

SANTA ROSA HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM

1235 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa

 

In light of continued struggle for civil rights for all and the need for uniting our society, the theme for the 2015 Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration is a quote from Dr. King: ‘Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?’ 

The event will take place at the Santa Rosa High School Auditorium, 1235 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa. It is a free community event. Parking also free, in back of the auditorium off Ridgeway.

Doors open at 5:00 pm, program goes on from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The event includes: The Youth Pomo Dance Group; Ski-I will perform his original song: You Can’t Blame the Youth; Winners of the Middle and High School oratories written on the above theme, will recite their eloquent, thought provoking speeches; The Celebration Mass Choir, including members of other choirs from the community, will perform Freedom Songs and special selections; There will be an Awards Presentation for the oratories and children’s Art Contest.

A Parallel Children’s Program (ages 4-8), will take place in a separate room. Attendies of the event can check in the children between 5:30-6:00 pm. The children will join the main program toward the end of the event.

This annual event is presented by the MLK Birthday Celebration Committee.
