Cazadero Communications - December 2014

Cazadero Communications - December 2014

by Natasha Pehrson

Many thanks to all who helped at the recent festive Cazadero Holiday Crafts Fair. A very pleasant event, along with the scrumptious pies and cakes from the ladies of the Cazadero Community Church. We are about to enjoy the Annual Community Thanksgiving Feast, sponsored by the Cazadero Community Club and much appreciated by all who attend. We have wonderful cooks in our community and I am about to make a dessert to bring. You may pay your annual dues to the Caz Club – only $15 for families and $10 for Individuals. Send to P.O. Box 3, Cazadero, CA 95421.

Many local artisans will be showing their unique wares at the Annual Bodega Holiday Crafts Fair at the old Firehall in downtown Bodega on Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29. Soon after, the 7th Annual Monte Rio Holiday Wonderland Crafts Fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday December 6 and 7 at the lovely Monte Rio Community Center. The following weekend of December 13 and 14 the traditional Occidental Holiday Crafts Fair will be open at the YMCA/Community Center on Bohemian Hwy. All of these great events open at 10 a.m. each day. Help support your local craftspeople and have a fun small town shopping experience.

Cazadero Supply continues to offer its great 1st Saturday 15% Discount Day, with wonderful items for your house, garden and automotive projects. Visit Raymond’s Bakery for seasonal delights and their very popular Friday Pizza Nights. The Cazadero General Store and the Duncans Mills General Store have a good selection of daily groceries and locally produced specialties. The annual Old Time Xmas will be in downtown Cazadero on Saturday, December 13.  Featuring a wonderful parade, great BBQ and ‘snow’!

Duncans Mills celebrates the season with pretty decorations and the many shops are very enticing. Where else could you get freshly roasted organic coffee beans (Gold Coast) on one side of Hwy. 116  and on the other side find a fabulous assortment of teas and related items at Mr. Trombly’s and Taste, plus Cape Fear Cafe continues to satisfy local and visitor’s appetites!

The Cazadero Community Church offers 10 a.m. Sunday worship service, with Bible study each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.  A very special evening with the Asante Children’s  Choir of Uganda will be held at  the Baptist Camp on Friday, December 5th at 6 p.m. The movie ”Heaven Is For Real” will be shown at the Church on Saturday, December 6th. The Annual Christmas program will be at the Church on December 21st at 6:30 p.m.

The Russian River Jewish Community invites you to the annual fantastic Chanukah Dance Party and potato latke celebration. All are welcome, with a small donation at the door. It will be held on Friday December 19th, beginning at 5:30 at the Monte Rio Community Center. Along with the lively music of Jubilee Klezmer Ensemble, and a tasty potluck meal there will be a group lighting of the Chanukah menorahs (candelabras).

I wish a very Happy birthday to Cazadero poet Mike Tuggle on December 1st; Heather Lough will be 28 also on that day, Mike Nicholls celebrates on the 3rd, along with Ken Parameter on that same day, Brittany Kelly on the 6th, along with Jared, Kristie Sheets on the 10th, Kathy King on the 27th, my dear friend Angie Orr of Monte Rio has her day on the 30th, along with Justin Mosher-Ludy and Stephen Gross of Rien’s Beach enjoys the 31st.
