Acclaimed Gypsy Jazz guitarist/composer Stephane Wrembel offers Guitar Workshop and Concert at O.C.A on Sunday, October 27.

Call it “Guitar Serendipity” or just coincidence, anyone who loves to play or hear the versatile instrument must make their way to Occidental Center for the Arts,  the acoustically pleasing “home for all the arts”at  Bohemian Highway and Graton Rd. to hear an outstanding variety of world-class guitar performances in October.

Starting off with a twang and a bang, Schaef-Able Productions presents folk guitar star Kevin Welch on Thursday, October 3, followed by Sam Baker from Austin, Texas on Friday, October 25. www.northbaylive.com.

Redwood Arts Council brings internationally known classical guitarist and brilliant innovator Paul Galbraith to the OCA stage on Sunday, October 13 for a 4 pm concert. www.redwoodarts.org.  Sonoma County’s own guitarist /composer Bill Horvitz brings his outstanding instrumental trio The Skerries on Saturday, October 19 to perform original jazz, folk and rock-based compositions. For balance, Anita Orne (in hot pink cowgirl boots) plays guitar and other instruments with the fine fiddle trio JP and The OK Rhythm Boys from Washington State (October 18).

Parisian-born composer/guitarist Stephane Wrembel has been called “A Revelation!..by Rolling Stone. Filmmaker Woody Allen recruited him to score the catchy theme song Bistro Fada for “Midnight in Paris”, which SW performed live at the 2012 Academy Awards with Hans Zimmer’s All-Star Band. He has toured with David Grisman , Elvis Costello, Patti Smith ,and  The Roots. Stephane has sold out Lincoln Center in NY, Dublin’s National Concert Hall, recently toured Nigeria and will be in Korea in mid-October. He has played every major festival, and founded his own – Django A-Go-Go. Stephane even has a Gitane guitar named after him. World-class, indeed!

Now touring with his superb band to promote his fifth album (Origins ,#1 on  the jazz charts ) Stephane Wrembel – classically trained since age four, with musical roots in multiple world cultures who honed his craft among the Gypsies and earned a world-wide reputation as a stylist in the Django Reinhart mode- is bringing his jaw-dropping talent, dynamic guitar techniques and intense charisma to OCA for a 5 pm concert on SundayOctober 27.  $25 Concert only. Fine wine and savories will be for sale and the OCA Art Gallery will be open. Reservations advised.

Wrembel is also offering a one hour Guitar Workshop at 3 pm! Open to all ages, stages,and styles,  Stephane  will share his personal practice theory and techniques, followed by a Q & A with focus on problem-solving. $20 Guitar Workshop, by advance registration only.Optional to bring your instrument.
