Walking home from the Council’s special meeting at Parkside School, I witnessed an incident of dangerous driving familiar to many of us. As I approached the crosswalk at Bodega and Washington, a car stopped for me. I didn’t immediately enter the crosswalk because I was watching the second car back to see what it would do.

In a quiet rural Sebastopol neighborhood in early August, bulldozers and water tanks appeared on the property next to our neighbors. “Illegal grows are a huge concern, environmentally and socially,” wrote Supervisor Hopkins. “Unfortunately they give the folks who are doing the right thing (going through County permitting processes and growing in appropriate locations) a bad name,” she added.

Since February  Sonoma West Medical Center has added strong new leadership in the persons of Interim CEO John Peleuses, Chief Nursing Officer Barbara Vogelsang, Laboratory Manger Portia Diez, and several excellent additions to our clinical staff. We have been gearing up for new lines of service which should help stabilize the financial base for our hospital while allowing us to continue our excellent clinical care in all our current departments.

One member of the Sebastopol Council will be staffing the table at the Farmers Market in the Sebastopol Downtown Plaza every Sunday through September, generally from 10 am to noon. This is your opportunity to meet members of the Council, ask questions about our City government and share your ideas.
