The Sonoma County Backroad Challenge - Petaluma Sunrise Rotary

The

This annual fundraising event has three epic Wine Country back road routes of varying distances and difficulty to appeal to cyclists of every skill level. All three routes offer excellent scenery and are supported with mobile support (SAG) vehicles and crews. There are also five fully staffed rest stops along the routes for participants to rest, rehydrate, and get a bite to eat. Then, at the conclusion of the ride, participants get to enjoy a festival featuring live music, excellent barbeque and fantastic beer. The Sonoma County Backroad Challenge is administered by the Rotary Club of Petaluma Sunrise. The proceeds from the ride go to support those community groups who are helping with the ride and the humanitarian projects of the Petaluma Sunrise Rotary Club. Recent and ongoing local projects supported include providing dictionaries to every third-grade student in Petaluma, providing school grants for projects and field trips, and providing nutritious meals to families in need. Recent international projects include building classrooms and providing water sanitation solutions to communities in the Dominican Republic. The Petaluma Sunrise Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Charitable Foundation, established in 2010 by the Rotary Club of Petaluma Sunrise.
