District 1 Constituents Invited to Serve on Boards and Commissions

First District Supervisor

“Local government leaders want to hear your thoughts and your ideas on how to make improvements to a variety of issues in our community,” said Supervisor Susan Gorin. “Please consider joining one of over 75 Sonoma County Boards and Commissions and let your voice be heard.”

In the First District, Supervisor Susan Gorin is currently calling for applicants for the following commissions and boards:

Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Committee(SVCAC): Two vacancies. Available seats are restricted to individuals residing in South Sonoma Valley and North Sonoma Valley. Please see website for maps and boundaries. www.sonoma-county.org/prmd/gisdata/pdfs/svcac_e_size.pdf

The SVCAC is a joint advisory agency with representation from the County of Sonoma and the City of Sonoma to share responsibility for local planning in the Sonoma Valley. The Committee provides a regular forum for citizen participation in the formation of public policy, consider issues concerning the Sonoma Valley, evaluate solutions of these issues, advise elected officials and other decision makers, and form a bridge for communication between the various governmental agencies and the general public.

Meeting Schedule: Fourth Wednesday of most months at 6:30 p.m.

Location: Sonoma Police Department, Community Room, 177 First Street West, Sonoma

Alcohol and Drug Problems Advisory Board: One vacancy. Members of the Alcohol and Drug Problems Advisory Board participate in the planning process of collaborative short and long term goals and objectives for alcohol and other drug service delivery for all segments of the community; assist in the development of appropriate and effective evaluation strategies for programs; assist in the process to address current and future service needs; encourage and educate the public to understand the nature of alcohol and other drug problems; and encourage community support of alcohol and drug programs.

Meeting Schedule: Third Wednesday of each month from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m Location:Orenda Center, meeting room #1, 1430 Neotomas Ave, Santa Rosa
