WHERE: Bodega Bay Fire Protection District Firehouse 510 Highway One, Bodega Bay, CA 94923
WHY: The council meets quarterly to discuss various topics related to management of Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary off San Francisco, including sanctuary enforcement coordination; updates from the Greater Farallones, Cordell Bank, and Monterey national marine sanctuary superintendents; and from the Director of the Greater Farallones Association, the nonprofit partner to Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary. Also to be discussed will be Greater Farallones Visitor Center public programs; and a presentation from Sonoma County on their coastal resilience planning. Meetings are open to the public to attend, and each has a limited public comment period.
As an informational item only, the council will also hear from its U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) member on the USFWS' proposed Farallon Island invasive mouse eradication project, and from the sanctuary's superintendent on defining the sanctuary's jurisdiction and role in this proposed project. There is currently no action related to the proposed project before the sanctuary. Comments about this US Fish & Wildlife Service project should be directed to the USFWS (https://www.fws.gov/).
