Windsor El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), will be celebrated Saturday, November 5th, 5:30 to 8:30, in the Windsor Town Green. El Dia de los Muertos is an annual multicultural celebration of family and friends both living and dead! There will be a candlelight procession at dusk, live music and performances, Aztec and Folklorico dancers, Mariachi Band, Afro-Caribbean Windsor Bloco Youth Drum and Dance Ensemble and Sonoma County Taiko. You are sure to see some of the Bay Area’s finest Native American drummers and dancers. Come in costume, La Catrina Contest, see the giant Carnaval-style street puppets. This is a free event with great local food for sale. A tradition across Latin America for more than 3,000 years, El Día de los Muertos is a time to enjoy the food, music and memories of family and ancestors. In Latin American tradition, the spirits of the dead (Los Muertos) are invited to visit the living as our honored guests! The holiday is traditionally observed across Latin America on November 1st and 2nd, and is a time of remembering and rejoicing. Visit windsormuertos.org for more information.

Windsor Regional Library invites the residents of Sonoma County to a celebration on November 12, 2016 from 1-3pm in the Windsor Library Forum Room to mark the 20-year anniversary of the library opening the doors at its current location of 9291 Old Redwood Highway in Windsor. To mark the event, the library is hosting a celebration that will include music, refreshment, speeches by notable local figures and special door prizes.

Although the celebration marks the 20 years that the Windsor Regional Library has occupied its current location, the Windsor Library Association actually started over 114 years ago. Here are a few notable dates from Windsor Library history:

1991 - Bookmobile service provided to Windsor citizens.

1996 - Windsor Regional Library opened.

2016 - The Windsor Regional Library offers more than ever, free with a library card.
