Russian River Health Center Ribbon Cutting

West County Health Centers has re-opened the Russian River Health Center just 8 months after the fire that devastated our building on December 26, 2015. The large temporary modular medical building opened for service on September 6th 2016 at 16319 Third Street in Guerneville. West County Health Centers has plans to rebuild and open a new permanent facility for the Russian River Health Center in the next two to three years in Guerneville. Just days after the fire RRHC medical providers continued to serve our patients in small temporary offices adjacent to the Russian River Dental Clinic in Guerneville. The old Russian River Health Center building was demolished and construction crews worked tirelessly to install this large modular medical building on the old RRHC site.

The Russian River Health Center has been a vital source of medical care in the Guerneville and lower Russian River community for more than 40 years and we are incredibly grateful to all the people who helped us reopen as quickly as possible. Our patients have continued to have uninterrupted access to vital medical, dental, and mental health services despite the loss of the medical building in Guerneville in December.

Of the 15,000 West County Health Centers patients in western Sonoma County, 3,500 patients receive medical and mental health services at Russian River Health Center. Prior to the fire, the Russian River Health Center averaged 50 patient appointments per day in Guerneville. The old Russian River Health Center building was 3900 square feet with 8 exam rooms and 4 counseling offices.

The new large modular medical building occupies 3300 square feet, including 7 exam rooms, a group visit room, and a lab. West County Health Centers has transitioned medical care into this larger medical modular building at the corner of Church & 3rd Street in Guerneville, from our temporary facilities adjacent to the Russian River Dental Clinic. This large medical modular building will temporarily replace the Russian River

Health Center building which was destroyed by a fire on December 26, 2015. West County Health Centers plans to rebuild a new permanent facility for the Russian River Health Center at another location in Guerneville over the next two to three years.

“I’m tremendously proud of our entire Russian River Health Center team who have persevered under very challenging conditions to provide care for our patients. And, I’m so happy for our staff and patients that we have finally returned to normal operations. It will take several years to build the new, permanent health center but moving into these expanded temporary quarters is definitely a step in the right direction.”- Mary Szecsey, Executive Director, West County Health Centers.
