Cazadero Communications - October 2016

by Natasha Pehrson

Writing this inside of my airy cyber-hut on a warm late summer’s day. The large redwoods outside of my windows are quite still and as we approach the Autumnal Equinox,we are reminded of the fleeting nature of warm weather! I for one am storing the warmth in my bones for the hopefully upcoming rainy days. of winter.

The Montgomery Elementary School is in full swing! Last year folks said “good-bye” to Dave Ramalia (Mr. R) and this year they say “hello” to Chris Sotak. Mr. Sotak comes to us from the Mark West School District. October is packed with a variety of fun and educational events. On Oct 12th, the Lawrence Hall of Science will bring their Science Show to the school. The parents Booster Club is sponsoring the event and the students from Fort Ross School will join MES students. On Oct 13th is the annual school picture day. Ms. Port’s Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders will go on a field trip a local pumpkin farm (date TBA). To round out the month, the older students will organize and participate in the annual Halloween Carnival, which is so much fun for the younger students. Check the school’s encased bulletin board at the General Store for updates throughout the month.

The recent Rummage Sale/Recycle Circus event sponsored by the Sky Garden and the Cazadero Community Club was a big success, with many folks selling and trading their items for exciting new ones. ! must say that the Caz tomatoes are especially tasty this year. Thanks to Cathy Schezer and all other Sky Garden Angels!!

The next meeting of the Cazadero Community Club will be on Tuesday, Oct. 4th, 7 p.m. at Firehall #1. Please join your neighbors in planning events which benefit the entire community!

The Annual Cazadero Holiday Crafts Fair will be held on Saturday, November 12th from 10-4 p.m. at the Firehall. Wonderful handmade items such as jewelry, jams, fabulous baked goods, ceramics, woodwork, body products, knit items and more will help you with holiday and everyday shopping needs and desires. Tasty snacks will be available in the Café. For vendor info, etc. please call me at 632-5545.

The Cazadero and Duncans Mills General Stores offer up a great variety of daily groceries and local specialty items. Raymond’s Bakery’s Friday Pizza and Music Nights are very popular.

Take a stroll through Duncans Mills colorful shops and restaurants, many of which are run by Cazaderans.
