Sonoma County Golf Course Guide

This sport entails a skill that brings people to Sonoma County from all over the world because we have unique courses found no where else. From the Links at Bodega Bay and Sea Ranch challenging golfers by wind and fog to Northwood Golf Course meandering among impeccably groomed Redwoods, people play different courses to get different golfing experiences. It’s a game of precision with a strong social element where friendships bond on the green. Try a new course just for the fun of it.

Adobe Creek is 18 holes links style course open to the public. The new owners took over in 2011 and have been working very hard to restore all greens. They are proud to announce it is now in great playable condition with a strong Junior Program.   Adobe Creek, Rooster Run and Windsor Golf Club are all one family.

The General Manager, wants Sonoma to know that Bennett Valley Golf Course focuses on great customer service and well maintained greens. The par 72, 6,500-yard course is tree lined with no houses. Bennett Valley Golf Course also features a driving range with natural grass and artificial mats, as well as a large practice putting green.

On April 1, 2006 the "all new" Fairgrounds Golf Course and Learning Center reopened, and is now known as the area's premier practice facility. Because of their dedication to Junior Golf and growing the game, The National Golf Course Owner's Association has awarded the course Beginner Friendly Certification! They're quite proud of the fact that they are 1 of only 3 courses certified as Beginner Friendly in the North Bay.

With two 18-hole championship golf courses in the heart of the Wine Country, Foxtail Golf Club offers the perfect location for your next golf tournament, banquet or event. Foxtail boasts one of the best golf instruction and practice facilities in the North Bay. They have a full driving range, chipping and putting practice areas. Private and group lessons are available. Foxtail Golf Club is also an official course for the AFGL (American FootGolf League) FootGolf is a combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf. To play FootGolf, athletes use soccer balls on a traditional golf course with 21-inch diameter cups. The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf.  Footgolf is available 7 days a week after 1:00 pm.

Healdsburg Golf Club at Tayman Park offers the only three tiered, all-weather practice facility in the area. Open all year round with 18 stalls, modeled after the world famous multi-tiered driving ranges in Japan. Over 300 yards in length, all kinds of shots can be played.  With covered stalls, golfers are able to practice all-year around, remaining cool in the hot summer months and dry during the rainy in-climate winter weather.

Extensive renovations were completed in 2008 where over 96 bunkers were re-constructed, all 18 greens were stripped of the Poa Ana grass and bentgrass was added. Overall, the course conditions were greatly improved and The NEW Links at Bodega Harbour is the best it's ever been.

Mayacama was founded in 1999 after developer David Wilhelm and his partners purchased 675 acres from Marv Soiland and Peanuts cartoonist, Charles M. Featuring two Ted Robinson designs, the West Course at Oakmont can be played at over 6,300 yards, and was designed for both enjoyment and challenge.  The East Course at Oakmont has been frequently referred to as one of Northern California’s most challenging executive courses. Designed by Robert Muir Graves and completed in 1974, the first nine holes at The Sea Ranch Golf Links jumped onto the list of exciting and scenic golf destinations. In 1995 this “Gem of the Seaside” links was completed at 6649 yards, par 72, when Graves’ second nine was opened. The course’s blend of undulating seaside landscape with Scottish links-style architecture was a first on the West Coast. The Sea Ranch Golf Links remains one of the most highly regarded golf experiences in California and unique on the North Coast.

An extensive fairway sanding program has now made Windsor Golf Club a 12-month course. Windsor Golf Club provides a challenge for golfers of all skill levels. Although holes 2 and 7 were both consistently ranked among the "Top 10 Most Difficult" on the Nike Tour, the 6,650-yard layout is relatively forgiving. Fairways are uncluttered by neighboring homes and surrounded by mountains and gorgeous Sonoma County vineyards.
