Radioland - KBBF 89.1 FM Bilingual Radio - Sonoma County

Mil Gracias!

A huge thank you to all of you who called in and pledged your support to 89.1 KBBF during our 2016 spring fund drive. We raised over $6,500 in support of 45 years of the Bilingual Broadcasting Foundation which holds the license for 89.1 KBBF Radio. We also had a great time celebrating our 43rd birthday on May 31 (the date we first broadcast on the air way back in 1973!) and were delighted that Trio Orion came by for a surprise serenade to our offices at 1700 Corby Avenue during the party. It was lovely.

One of the best presents to the station this year was a promise made by a very generous (anonymous) donor who agreed to match every single dollar raised in both this fund drive and the one at the end of the year (up to $50,000!). That match brought our total for the Spring drive to $13,000! We are truly humble and grateful by all the calls and online donations in support of bilingual radio. As you may know, KBBF is 100% listener supported, we no longer receive any funds from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (at least for now) so your support means a whole lot to us. Please remember to fulfill your pledge as the reminder letters have all been sent. Thanks again for your generous support to KBBF Radio 89.1 FM. La Voz de tu Comunidad!

And a special congratulations to the winner of our Donald Trump Pinata, Sally Del Rosario, Felicidades, Sally!

California Conservation Corp.

After the Conservation Corp. did such a tremendous job with our big clean-up at our historic home on 4010 Finley avenue back in April, we decided to continue collaborating together! We will be teaming up with the California Conservation Corp. to hold a community E-waste and recycling event on a Saturday in either late June or early August (please check our website at for the exact date). We will be accepting all sorts of items (like tires) in the parking lot at our station headquarters on Corby Avenue. We also will be training CCC members in radio engineering and production in the next few months. The CCC is also seeking young people 18-24 to enroll in their program, applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Call 415 454-4554 or visit for more information.

KBBF and You!

Persons who are interested in volunteering and offering talents that contribute to their community through KBBF are invited to call the station during the day at (707) 545-8833 or send us an email at We are particularly looking for people who are team players, friendly, bilingual and interested in social justice, communication and community engagement. Prior radio experience is a definite plus!

KBBF Board Meetings

They happen the last Saturday of the month and it is where you can learn even more about all the great goings on at KBBF Radio. Our next two meetings are July 30th and August 27th at 10:00 am. Come by and learn even more about how to get involved in your bilingual, community, radio station. Nos vemos alli!
