SLOUGH OF ART - CALL FOR ARTISTS
The Rivertown Revival invites sculptors to install original sculptures at the Rivertown Revival Festival, which takes place July 21, 2012. AND: original floating sculpture in Petaluma’s Steamer Landing Back Slough from July 14 - August 3, 2012, and viewed by over 10,000 festival participants, from Petaluma and afarby over 10,000 festival participants and citizens of Petaluma.
About the Festival: The Rivertown Revival is a unique, arts–based, thematic, festival that sustainably highlights and celebrates the Petaluma River while raising much needed funds for the David Yearsley River Heritage Center, a project of Friends of the Petaluma River. This community festival iincludes over 100 musicians, an art boat flotilla, art boat drag races, sculptures on water and land, aerial acts on the River, artesian merchants, engaging non-profit organizations, $5 weddings, local food vendors, theatrical performances, amazing children and teen activities and a beautiful location for folks to be themselves.
Land(ing) Art is open to all artists in the North Bay region We are looking for medium to large sculptures which will be sited for the public to enjoy with sales encouraged with artists information and cost displayed. Sculptors are exempt from vendor fees, but we ask for a 10% commission if you should sell a sculpture, to be paid at the end of the event. Sculptures will be juried; with 15- 20 sculptures selected based:Creativity/aesthetics, Sound construction and anchoring system to assure the art will stand on uneven terrain,Sculptures must be safe for the public walk around and to touch.
Land(ing) Art Dates to Remember:
June 1 Submission deadline for artists applications
June 15 All artists will be notified of their selection status
July 1-14 Communications regarding installation sites and needs.
July 20 Installations, 3- 6pm (security will be provided over night)
July 21 Rivertown Revival Event
July 22 De- installation any time ( security will be provided overnight)

Slough of Art is open to individuals, groups (up to six per group), and two assigned spaces are reserved for the local high schools. Awards: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place will be awarded cash, based on creative design and fabrication. On the day of the event, all artworks will be given a “Best of” Award,” as voted by the public - Art Proposals will be juried; with 6-8 proposals selected based on Creativity/aesthetics, Sound construction, Water proof and non bio-degradable and Size:

June 13 Q & A Logistics Meeting- Artists will meet to discuss possible shared ideas and basic logistics.
June 15 Artist Submit engineering detailed drawing for approval
July 9 Last minute communication regarding artist’s plans for installation and securing the art
July 14 Art installation party with media presence!
July 21 Rivertown Revival Event
August 4 All art installations must be removed by sundown.
