Signs Stolen
This is NOT an April Fool Joke!
The Parade is ON for
SUNDAY - April 1st @ 1pm
Dear Head of Tomfoolery or Angry Citizen,
Every year, our town of Occidental has a wonderful community event called the Fool's Day Parade. Many many people contribute time and money to have a day which is frankly, about being foolish. It's great fun, good for kids, adults, and all that enjoy being light-hearted. There is no entry fee, there are no requirements to BE in the parade...just show up! The colors seen, the music heard, and the memories made, enrich the wild spirit of our West County that we love.
So why were our signs all stolen?
These were hand-painted signs originally done by volunteers from Handgoods in Occidental, painting on a board as the image of a clown was projected on to it. We had four in 2010. This year we were down to two, placed in Occidental and on Highway 116 to Sebastopol. Now we're down to zero.
We simply ask that if you've seen these signs hanging around, let us know. Or bring them back to the Occidental Center for the Arts and leave them by the door. No questions asked. We just want them back.
As this may fall on deaf ears (eyes), Heidi Schmidt of Handgoods has once again come to the aid of this great Occidental tradition, and will rally her folks to paint new ones. We are so grateful to have their help in our community, as well as all of the other people that support this show of spirit through parade.
Sincerely,
Candace Mackey
