KBBF, your listener sponsored, community radio station, came on the air for the very first time in 1973, but the Bilingual Broadcasting Foundation (which holds the KBBF broadcast license) was founded two years earlier, in 1971, by Chicano/Latino students from Sonoma State University. That means 45 years of bringing bilingual, public, community, radio to the north county and beyond.  We are looking forward to celebrating the Foundation’s 45th birthday on Tuesday, May 31st. On that day we will have special programming on KBBF and will also be requesting your support for KBBF with a special 24 hour fund drive. Please tune in and lend your financial support KBBF 89.1!

Too often someone passes up 89.1 FM on the dial thinking it’s nothing more than a ‘Spanish station’.  Yet realistically, it’s much more!  Most will not even know the call letters are KBBF, and then quickly, unknowingly, and equally they pass up a culturally rich opportunity.
