Every fresh vegetable and fruit lover in Sonoma County will be happy to here this!

FARMERS’ MARKET WILL CONTINUE AT SANTA ROSA VETERANS’ BUILDING, WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT.

Over the past few months, we have heard that the farmers market held at the Santa Rosa Veteran’s Hall may have to close, move to another location or charge booth fees two to three times the $26 that has been charged in the past. As long‐time farmers and vendors at the Santa Rosa markets, we understand how devastating this would be not only to small farmers but to their customers as well. A coalition of community and market members have therefore formed a mutual benefit non-profit corporation in order to continue having farmers markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We will be operating as Redwood Empire Farmers’ Markets and our first market will be July 4th, 2012.

After a careful review of farm market finances, we have determined that the current stall fee of $26 will allow us to pay what we believe to be the reasonable rent asked by the County ($75/hr).

All current vendors in the markets, new certified agricultural vendors, food purveyors, and artisanal producers, are welcome to apply for the Wednesday and Saturday market. Applications can be requested by emailing INFO@REFMKT.COM.

The markets will continue to be certified by the State of California, which requires that all vendors have grown their crops themselves within the state.

As local farmers and current and past vendors at the Santa Rosa Farmers’ Markets, we wish to thank all

of the customers of the markets for their continued support of local agriculture and look forward to

serving you in the future. We will continue the dynamic, energetic market that the community has come to love.

Redwood Empire Farmers’ Markets mission is to provide The Redwood Empire a vibrant, authentic farmers ‘ market with the focus on fresh, local agricultural products.
